Carter BB-1 Troubleshooting

Why is my Carburetor Flooding?

  • Test the needle & seat for leaks
  • Test the fuel pump pressure. Check with the motors manual for exact measurement but close to 4 lbs, or less. Too much pressure will cause the needle to open pre-maturely.
  • Is the float leaking. Can you hear gas slosh inside. Heat up a pan of water just prior to boiling and immerse the float (brass). Any leaks will be indicated by bubbles.
  • Check that the float isn’t binding on the hinge pin, or rubbing on the sides of the float bowl.
