The proper pressure of the fuel pump is necessary to carry the correct amount of fuel from the gas tank to the carburetor.
- Relieve the fuel pressure from the system.
- Disconnect the fuel line at the fuel filter and attach the pressure gauge to it.
- Remove the fuel cut off relay from the fuse box and connect a jumper wire in its place. Turn the ignition switch on until the pressure stabilizes. The pressure should be 2.6-3.3 psi.
- Check for kinked or pinched fuel line from the gas tank to the fuel pump.
