In this video, we examine a General Motors throttle body injector, pointing out the location and functions of the throttle position sensor (TPS). The sensor is attached to the internal throttle valve shaft.
The video displays the location of the sensor and its attaching screws, and discusses the function of the TPS in connection with regulating the fuel/air mixture. Its job is to send a signal to the vehicle’s electronic control unit, informing it of the position of the butterfly valve. In other words, it informs the computer as to how open the throttle is, and keeps it informed of this so the computer can adjust its requirements accordingly.
